IT Home, August 16 — SK hynix is best known as a memory-chip maker, but it has also shipped a number of well-regarded consumer SSDs. Recently a Reddit user reported that one of their drives failed; when they contacted SK hynix for a warranty replacement, the company said it had no equivalent model in stock and would only refund the original purchase price. With global memory supply still tight, SSD prices have climbed sharply — and that refund is no longer enough to buy a comparable drive.
